Katrina:
The highlight of most people’s daily lives in this society is telling their stories, thinking that others are really listening to them, rather than waiting for the polite moment to start telling their own story. Therefore, firstly I liked that you stepped away from the expected narcissism and was genuinely interested in someone else’s story. It also takes more energy to listen to some one well enough to accurately retell their story, and you were also able to analyze what you were told. Steps in Katrina’s approach to the assignment (as it may seem to the reader)1. you had the desire to really listen to someone(conceptually and emotionally)2. you practiced good listening skills3. you were able to retell the story in a compelling way4. you used the careful examination someone else’s feelings to answer the question: what are the emotional dynamics involved in a collapse? However I do have one question: In the first phase of experiencing a collapse, the individual views the situation as entertaining. I have also found this to be a pattern in the modern dominant culture’s psyche (in reaction to collapse); Why do you think this is true? (Comment in response to piece on the emotional dynamics involved in the 2003 black out/this example of a societal collapse can be seen on: http://thisisnotmymind.blogspot.com/ )
